Las Vegas, NV– On September 21, 2019 from the Spina Bifida Association (SBA) will present a daylong educational event for families with children with Spina Bifida and adults who have Spina Bifida. The Spina Bifida Education Day will take place at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, and is being coordinated by the SBA of the Intermountain Region, SBA of California, Primary Children’s Hospital of Salt Lake City, and St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital of Boise, ID.
Four-time WCMX World Championship athlete Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham will start the day with his presentation, Living Your Best Life. The Education Day will feature presentations on topics that include:
- Education and Independence, presented by Paula Peterson, APP, PNP, Spina Bifida Program Director, Primary Children’s Hospital
- Bowel Management, presented by Teresa Carroll, APRN, Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition Associates in Las Vegas
- Sexual Health, presented by Jessica Casey, MS, MD, Pediatric Urologist at Children’s Medical Center at Summerlin Hospital and Children’s Urology Associates in Las Vegas and Christina Berlin, manager of SBA of the Intermountain Region and SBA of California.
The Education Day will also feature a panel of adults with Spina Bifida, moderated by Kathy-Price Toby.

The Las Vegas Education Day is the third in the series of 2019 Spina Bifida Education Days. The first took place in San Francisco on June 3 followed by Houston on August 3. The last Education Day of 2019 will be held in Memphis on October 12.
