SBFV offers various programs for members with spina bifida to improve fitness, mobility, independence and well-being.

Independent Living Skills

This program provides members with a foundation for living full and independent lives and discovering life’s possibilities. Comprehensive manuals are available for all SBFV adult members with spina bifida. Topics covered include personal care and safety, mobility, living in your own space, relationships, mental health and personal identity, employment, managing finances and healthy eating. New members will be sent a manual in their welcome package.

Family Camps

SBFV organises fun-filled camps for families who have children living with spina bifida. The annual summer camps have been a great success in providing parents with affordable respite opportunities and a chance to share stories and experiences of raising children with spina bifida. Importantly the camps increase social interaction for the children and their siblings, significantly improving self-esteem and developing independence.
